Tom LaSorda was appointed vice chairman and president of Chrysler LLC in August 2007. He serves in the Office of the Chairman and on the Board of Managers. In this role, he is responsible for manufacturing, procurement and supply, employee relations and global business development and alliances.
Mr. LaSorda was appointed president and CEO of the Chrysler Group in 2005 after serving as chief operating officer for the Chrysler Group. Prior to joining the company in 2000, he was employed by General Motors Corporation where he served in many capacities including president of Opel Eisenach GmbH and vice president of Quality, Reliability and Competitive Operations.
His work background at Chrysler includes: vice chairman, president and member of the Board of Managers, Chrysler LLC, 2007; vice chairman, Board of Managers of Cerberus Operating Advisory Company LLC, 2007; president and CEO, Chrysler Group, 2005; chief operating officer, 2004; executive vice president, Manufacturing, 2002; and senior vice president, Powertrain Manufacturing, 2000. (GM/Suzuki Joint Venture), 1991; director of Production, 1990; director of Service Engineering, Buick Motor Division, 1987; manager Quality Assurance, GM of Canada, 1985; Labor Relations and Public Relations, 1983 and Manufacturing and Labor Relations assignments, 1977.
He is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the Economic Alliance for Michigan, Michigan Business Roundtable, Board of Directors and Executive Committee for Detroit Renaissance, Board of Directors for the Detroit Economic Club and Board of Directors for the Automotive Youth Educational Systems. In 2004, he received the "Distinguished Service Citation" award from the Automotive Hall of Fame.
Mr. LaSorda received a master of business administration, University of Windsor, Ontario, Canada, 1980 and a bachelor of arts, University of Windsor, Ontario, Canada, 1977.
