Christopher Hosford joined Hyundai Motor America in 1997 as director of Communications. He was named vice president in 2005. He is responsible for the company's corporate, product, and media relations, government relations, dealer communications and diversity issues. His prior position was executive director.
Mr. Hosford was formerly chief operating officer and director of the Automotive Group in the Los Angeles office of GCI, an international public relations firm.
Prior to joining GCI, Mr. Hosford was manager of Technology and Manufacturing Public Relations at Chrysler Corporation and a member of the corporate communications strategy team. He began his work in public relations at Hill and Knowlton, Inc. where he was vice president of the firm's Japanese Business Division.
Mr. Hosford began his career as a newspaper editor at the Los Angeles Herald-Examiner. Later he was a magazine editor and served as editorial director at Freed-Crown-Lee Publishing.
Mr. Hosford serves on the boards of several charitable organizations and is a member of the Public Relations Society of America and the International Motor Press Association. He is secretary and treasurer of the trade association, Automotive Retailing Today, and board member of the Association of International Automobile Manufacturers.
