Media Registration

Media representatives may register at no charge. All Media registrations are subject to approval. Please note: Receipt of a registration confirmation number does not guarantee that your registration has been approved for Media Credentials but rather that your submission, and our receipt of your submission, was successful. Media registration requests are reviewed by CAR MBS management and approved if they meet the criteria outlined in our Media Credentials Policy above. We will contact you if we need additional information or we have determined you do not meet the necessary requirements. Submission of published work and/or a signed letter from an assignment editor may be required.

Registration is closed.

Media Credentials Policy

The CAR Management Briefing Seminars welcome media attendees to this annual event. Credentials are provided to qualified journalists so they may cover scheduled sessions, press conferences and related events. To qualify for media credentials, a person must be a working print, broadcast, or website journalist.

All persons participating in CAR MBS events must display a conference-issued name badge. "Working journalist” is defined as someone who derives at least 50 percent of his/her income from journalistic activities either independently or as an employee of independent communication media. The term “independent” refers to a media outlet that is independent of special interest groups, trade associations, companies, consumer organizations or government agencies, so "reporters" for house organs, reports, newsletters and other publications that are produced by such groups are not considered to be working press. Working journalists are those that work as a:

• Reporter, editor, writer, publisher

• News photographer or videographer

• Producer

• Web master or other editorial employee for a publication, news service, broadcast outlet or news Internet site that is regularly issued

• Supported by advertising or paid subscriptions or published or funded by a non-profit organization

• Operated with editorial independence from any political, governmental, commercial or special interest

• Not a house publication of any organization or movement

• Published primarily for the dissemination of news

The family friendly Partners Program is available for all attendee families. In addition, the Resort and surrounding Traverse City area have numerous opportunities for family fun. Contact the Traverse City Convention Bureau at www.visittraversecity.com or (800) 872-8377.

Social hours take place Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday evenings. A scramble golf tournament is scheduled for Sunday afternoon.

Your spouse or partner is welcome at all of the social hours. (Children are not permitted at the Monday - Wednesday social hours.)

The seminars are designed to foster a casual atmosphere for the informal exchange of ideas. Business casual is appropriate. Others wear more casual polo shirts and slacks.

These are informal events. Attire will vary from sport coats to polo shirts and slacks (for men) and from summer dresses and skirts to pants and shirts (for women).

Continental breakfast and lunch are included each day. Social hours are hosted Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday evenings.

The first thing to do would be to find a colleague interested in replacing you. If your colleagues are already registered or unable to attend, please inform us in writing that you must cancel. To be eligible for a full refund of fees, notification of cancellation must be received in our office in writing by May 15, 2010. After this date, to be eligible for a refund of fees less the handling charge of $150.00 we must receive your request in writing before July 20, 2010. We regret that we cannot accept requests for refunds after that date.

The registration desk is located in the Governors Prefunction area. We recommend that you pick up your name badge and conference materials at early registration on Sunday, from 5-7 p.m. or on Tuesday from 3:30-7 p.m. The registration desk is also open during the conference sessions. A name badge is required to gain admittance to the sessions. Please note: badges will be distributed the day before or morning of the first day of your registration so you may attend the social hours included in your registration.
