Robert Bienenfeld is senior manager, Environment and Energy Strategy for American Honda’s Product Regulatory Office. He is responsible for reviewing legislative proposals and regulatory rule making as it relates to the automobile and its impact on the environment.  In addition, Mr. Bienenfeld is responsible for recommending long-term strategies to address greenhouse gas and energy security.  

Prior to his current position, Mr. Bienenfeld was an Advisor to Honda’s Product Review Committee, and was responsible for Strategic Planning and Research.  Other previous responsibilities include: Product Planning, New Business Development, and Alternative Fuel Vehicle Sales and Marketing. 

Mr. Bienenfeld led Honda’s sales and marketing of Honda’s first battery electric car, the EV PLUS, the Civic GX natural-gas powered vehicle, and the original Honda Insight, the first hybrid vehicle sold in the United States. Key accomplishments include: the initial proposal for Honda’s Safety for Everyone strategy, the introduction of telematics in the Acura Brand, Honda’s investments in Flexcar, a car sharing company (now merged with ZipCar), and FuelMaker, a home refueling appliance for natural gas vehicles.  Mr. Bienenfeld led Honda’s sales and marketing of Honda’s first battery electric car, the EV PLUS, the Civic GX natural-gas powered vehicle, and the original Honda Insight, the first hybrid vehicle sold in the United States.

A 25 year Honda veteran, Mr. Bienenfeld spent 10 years marketing alternative fuel vehicles, and continues advising the company on alternative fuel vehicle infrastructure strategies. During that ten year period he was a board member of the Electric Vehicle Association of American (EVAA) and Chairman of the Natural Gas Vehicle Coalition (NGVC). He has been a speaker at various automotive industry conferences.

Mr. Bienenfeld was graduated from St. John’s College, Santa Fe, New Mexico and resides in Long Beach, California. He is a member of the Board of Visitors and Governors of St. John’s College.

Social hours take place Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday evenings. A scramble golf tournament is scheduled for Sunday afternoon.

Your spouse or partner is welcome at all of the social hours. (Children are not permitted at the Monday - Wednesday social hours.)

The seminars are designed to foster a casual atmosphere for the informal exchange of ideas. Business casual is appropriate. Others wear more casual polo shirts and slacks.

These are informal events. Attire will vary from sport coats to polo shirts and slacks (for men) and from summer dresses and skirts to pants and shirts (for women).

Continental breakfast and lunch are included each day. Social hours are hosted Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday evenings.

The first thing to do would be to find a colleague interested in replacing you. If your colleagues are already registered or unable to attend, please inform us in writing that you must cancel. To be eligible for a full refund of fees, notification of cancellation must be received in our office in writing by May 14, 2011. After this date, to be eligible for a refund of fees less the handling charge of $150.00 we must receive your request in writing before July 19, 2011. We regret that we cannot accept requests for refunds after that date.

The registration desk is located in the Governors Prefunction area. We recommend that you pick up your name badge and conference materials at early registration on Sunday, from 5-7 p.m. or on Tuesday from 3:30-7 p.m. The registration desk is also open during the conference sessions. A name badge is required to gain admittance to the sessions. Please note: badges will be distributed the day before or morning of the first day of your registration so you may attend the social hours included in your registration.
